The Boathouse
This boathouse is ideal for a couple who want to relax in a peaceful natural environment but not sacrifice the comforts of home. It is situated a few minutes by boat from Ivy Lea, on the south west side of a five acre estate. It is in close proximity to the town of Gananoque, grocery and liquor stores, restaurants, and boat rentals.
The inside is approximately 1,000 square feet of open concept with cathedral ceilings, lots of natural light and finished with light pickled pine. The bedroom has a queen size bed with a walk out balcony overlooking the water – an ideal place to have your morning coffee. The bathroom has both an individual shower and antique clawfoot tub. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave, keurig coffee maker, water cooler, full size fridge, bar fridge and all the amenities you need for cooking and dining (including the candles). A gas BBQ is provided outside. All the linens, towels and beach towels are provided. Essentially all you need to bring is your food and drinks. Off the kitchen is a large deck facing the forest and river. The living room and dining room face the water and every evening you will be awestruck by some of the most beautiful sunsets over the water. The living room has TV with local stations and ABC. There are two fireplaces, a wood burning in the living room and an electric in the bedroom. The boathouse has electric heat throughout and an air conditioner for those hot summer nights.
The outside features 2 docks. One is a swimming dock with ladder which is also ideal for sunbathing or fishing. The other dock features deep water that can hold up to a 34’ boat*. A short walk from the boathouse is a private beach. Perched high on the point is an original Gazebo, which gives you views of Fiddlers Elbow.
Enjoy nature, watch the Heron and Osprey hunt for fish, wakeup to the sounds of waves and Loons calling in the morning, or even catch a glimpse of beavers, muskrats, mink and peacocks. Yes peacocks, who are the family pets roam freely on the island. Take out your fishing rods and fish off the dock or hire a local fisherman to take you out. Swim off the swim dock or spend the day on the private beach reading a novel. Rent seadoos and explore the area or take a private tour of the area by boat. Have wine and cheese at the Gazebo on the point. Dine on the water at the tasteful Ivy Club or the more casual Smugglers Run, or try one of the many Gananoque restaurants.
